W.W. Grainger to lease warehouse at Crossroads Distribution Center

W.W. Grainger Inc. will lease the 297,067-square-foot building at Crossroads Distribution Center developed by Miles River Partners LLC and TriGate Capital.

Grainger is a business-to-business distributor of industrial maintenance, repair and operating products.

Sears at The Avenues to close by mid-December

Transform Holdco LLC, parent company of Sears and Kmart, will close its Sears at The Avenues mall by mid-December, spokesman Larry Costello said Monday.  

“After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Sears store in Jacksonville, Florida,” Costello said.

First Baptist Church ‘in cardiac arrest,’ to downsize its Downtown campus

First Baptist Church Jacksonville Senior Pastor Heath Lambert thought it would be difficult to convince his congregation that a $30 million loan is the best way for the 181-year-old church to address a debt crisis and stop “bleeding from its pores.”

“Here’s what I’m telling you — First Baptist Church is in cardiac arrest,” Lambert said during his sermon Sunday.

Morgan wants grocery, boutique hotel at Town & Country Shopping Center

District 1 City Council member Joyce Morgan says she will meet with Jacksonville developer JWB Real Estate Companies LLC in early September to discuss its plans for the Town & Country Shopping Center in Arlington.

During a town hall meeting Monday night at the Fort Caroline Presbyterian Church, Morgan also told constituents she has been approached by a developer interested in purchasing the Bethelite property at 5865 Arlington Expressway, the former Thunderbird Motor Hotel and Thunderbird Dinner Theatre.

160-acre industrial and commerce park in works for Wildlight

An almost 160-acre industrial and commerce park is in review for the Wildlight community at northeast Interstate 95 and Florida A1A in Nassau County.

“Extensive market studies show there is a substantial need for new industrial space,” said developer Rodney Jones, citing a low industrial vacancy rate for Nassau County.
