Regency Centers offers update on plans for San Marco Publix

It’s been two years since a deal fell through on East San Marco that would have created an apartment and retail center with the long-awaited Publix Super Market.

Last year, property owner Regency Centers Corp. Chairman and CEO Martin E. “Hap” Stein Jr. said the project would continue at Hendricks Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard, but just with the shopping center.

Tru by Hilton hotels coming to Mandarin, St. Johns County

Two Tru by Hilton hotels are on their way to Mandarin and St. Johns County.

Those are two of the five hotels that the brand intends to open in the area. The first opened at the Town Center Promenade and two are envisioned in Arlington and near Jacksonville International Airport.

Diesel Barbershop, a San Antonio-based chain that calls itself “a man cave for great haircuts,” intends to open this summer in Gateway Village at Town Center.

“The look and feel of Diesel Barbershop is part barbershop, part salon, part old school record store, part mechanics garage, part tattoo shop, and part vintage arcade,” says its website, dieselbarbershop.com.

The Jacksonville Landing's future: Mayor set on demolition, but some say not so fast

The city took possession of The Jacksonville Landing on Wednesday, which means time is brief for its remaining tenants and possibly for the Downtown riverfront shopping center itself.

The city’s acquisition of the shopping center comes after the City Council on March 26 approved a $15 million settlement with Sleiman Enterprises' Jacksonville Landing Investments LLC.

Entertainment notes: Cinemark to start building in The Pavilion at Durbin Park, takes step in Jacksonville

St. Johns County issued a construction permit for J. Raymond Construction to build the Cinemark at The Pavilion at Durbin Park at a cost of $10 million.

The 43,803-square-foot theater will be built at 435 Durbin Pavilion Drive.

Cinemark Holdings Inc. said in October it plans to open a 12-screen movie theater at the Pavilion by the fall. Plans show an 85,000-square-foot complex with a 44,000-square-foot movie theater and six restaurant-retail buildings.
