Entertainment notes: Cinemark to start building in The Pavilion at Durbin Park, takes step in Jacksonville

St. Johns County issued a construction permit for J. Raymond Construction to build the Cinemark at The Pavilion at Durbin Park at a cost of $10 million.

The 43,803-square-foot theater will be built at 435 Durbin Pavilion Drive.

Cinemark Holdings Inc. said in October it plans to open a 12-screen movie theater at the Pavilion by the fall. Plans show an 85,000-square-foot complex with a 44,000-square-foot movie theater and six restaurant-retail buildings.

Cinemark in Atlantic North

JEA issued a service availability letter for the 1,500-seat Cinemark theater planned in Atlantic North at northwest Atlantic Boulevard and Marketplace Drive, west of Kernan Boulevard.

Cinemark Holdings Inc. announced in March it will open the 14-screen movie theater in summer 2020.

The city is reviewing civil plans for the project, which is being developed by Sleiman Enterprises. The theater will be across Marketplace Drive from Belk.

San Jose Country Club

San Jose Country Club wants to start interior demolition in preparation for renovations. Auld & White Constructors LLC is the contractor for the $102,000 project to demolish about 20,000 square feet of space at the property at 7529 San Jose Blvd.

The renovation permit will be submitted separately.

The club announced that owner-members approved a $9 million three-phase clubwide renovation to begin in June for completion in April 2021.
