City seeking council approval to buy old Fire House No. 5 property from FNF

City officials want to purchase the old Fire Station No. 5 property on Riverside Avenue from Fidelity National Financial Inc.

Ordinance 2019-527, filed Friday by City Council President Scott Wilson at the request of Mayor Lenny Curry, would authorize $2.6 million from the city’s debt management/loan repayment fund to buy the former fire station property on 1.21 acres at 347 Riverside Ave.

After 34 years in business, Corporate Suite Shoppe owns its corporate headquarters, a dream of the company’s late founder, Beth Ann Greenwood.

The company Greenwood founded in 1985 with $250 started as an apartment locator for long-term leases and later changed paths to provide temporary and extended stay furnished housing throughout the city.

Cross Regions Real Estate paid $1.6 million for North Jacksonville land to develop a medical hub.

Called Duval Station at River City Marketplace, the proposed 132,000 square feet of professional and medical offices and retail space will be developed on about 9 acres.

Baptist HealthPlace at Nocatee plans to open by summer 2020

Baptist HealthPlace announced Thursday it will open a health and wellness center at Nocatee in St. Johns County by summer 2020.

The two-story, 83,000-square-foot center is planned on a 12-acre site west of the Nocatee Town Center and the Lakeside neighborhood in the master-planned community, according to a news release.

Sprouts hires 130 employees for first Jacksonville store; take a peek inside

Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. hired 130 full- and part-time employees for its first Jacksonville store that is scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Wednesday in The Markets at Town Center.

The Phoenix-based chain focuses on selling fresh, natural and organic foods and will open at 4873 Town Center Parkway. It will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. At noon Tuesday, employees stocked merchandise and contractors completed exterior work.
