Roosevelt Square owner seeks permits for Ortega Park revamp
Roosevelt Square, built 58 years ago as an enclosed shopping mall, is heading into its third redevelopment under the 22-year ownership of Atlanta-based Dewberry Group.

It includes a new name – Ortega Park – along with an expansion of retail stores, the addition of apartments and renovations to the existing center.

St. Marys Seafood & More coming to Baymeadows
St. Marys Seafood & More will take over the former Sticky Fingers Ribhouse, which also briefly was a Woody’s Bar-B-Q, at Baymeadows Road and Interstate 295.

It will be the company’s fourth restaurant.

Nammour Nammour, managing partner, said the family ownership group hopes to open the location in April.

City Council approves deal that gives city possession of The Jacksonville Landing
Jacksonville City Council members approved legislation Tuesday night giving the city full possession of The Jacksonville Landing, ending a two-year legal fight over the future of the Downtown riverfront marketplace and setting it up for potential demolition.

Council members voted 15-1 to approve Ordinance 2019-134, a measure that includes a $15 million buyout of Jacksonville Landing Investments LLC’s long-term lease, an additional $1.5 million to help relocate tenants and $1.5 million to demolish the 32-year-old shopping center.

MOSH launches $80 million campaign for renovation and expansion

The Museum of Science & History intends to renovate and expand its Downtown Southbank campus and increase its ability to serve the community.

It launched an $80 million campaign, “MOSH 2.0: Expanding the Capacity to Inspire Innovation,” in January to raise private and public funding for the project at 1025 Museum Circle, near Friendship Park.

Atlanta developer shares vision for $300 million ‘village center’ at I-295, Butler

Imagine historic San Marco Square – but larger – dropped into a signature Southside property.

That’s what Atlanta-based developer Jeff Fuqua envisions at the 67-acre “village center” area at southeast Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295 that he intends to buy from the Skinner family.

Fuqua, principal of Fuqua Development, intends to bring Jacksonville a fresh version of how people shop, play, live and work in an anticipated $300 million project will comprise retail, commercial and residential uses.
