Global food-service company Sysco Corp. continues to explore plans to expand its Northwest Jacksonville distribution center.
Sysco International Food Group Inc. applied for a Certificate of Use at its 3100 Hilton St. warehouse center.
The certificate states that Sysco International Food Group would add 114,643 square feet of space to the 213,788 square feet of existing space.
Those numbers differ from those filed with a mobility fee calculation certificate.
That application shows that Sysco International Food Group plans to expand the existing 195,724-square-foot warehouse by about 116,500 square feet to almost 312,300 square feet, an increase of almost 60 percent.
The city issued a mobility fee calculation certificate Jan. 23 for the project, planned on 16.33 acres. It calculated a fee of $41,165 to mitigate the project’s traffic impact.
Jacksonville-based Stellar, a construction management, design-build and general contracting company, is the agent.
The city also issued a demolition permit for Realco Recycling Co. Inc. to demolish a 12,000-square-foot metal building at the site at a cost of $12,000.
Sysco International Food Group intends to add dry warehouse and office space, a freezer-cooler, dock and concrete truck apron, plans show. The group is the export specialty division of Houston-based Sysco.
The ifoodgroup.com site says International Food Group provides product selection and services to more than 700 customers in more than 80 countries. It distributes food and nonfood items.
It says it operates with more than 250 associates from two dedicated export facilities — a 125,000-square-foot facility in Plant City and its 200,000-square-foot Jacksonville facility.
Sysco International Food Group is part of food-service company Sysco Corp., which also operates Sysco Food Services Jacksonville Inc. in West Jacksonville on almost 64 acres at 1501 Lewis Industrial Drive.
Sysco.com says that group employs more than 350 associates “from culinary experts, to warehouse and delivery specialists” in 365,000 square feet of cold storage and distribution warehouse space.
