Furniture, Wawa and more: Gate Point Meadows center filling in
Posted by Carlos Renteria on
The stretch of Gate Parkway from Ikea at Interstate 295 heading north to Butler Boulevard is filling in, and the Gate Point Meadows center at northwest Gate Parkway and Point Meadows Drive is about to break ground on more than $14 million in projects.
Tampa-based Brightwork Real Estate is the developer. Here’s the status:
Baer’s Furniture
Who builds a furniture store a half-mile from Ikea? Baer’s Furniture Co. Baer’s applied for a permit to build a two-story, 84,242-square-foot store on 4 acres at 7760 Gate Parkway at a cost of $7.6 million.
No contractor is specified. Pompano Beach-based and family-owned Baer’s Furniture intends to build on 4.01 acres.
It will be its first store in the Jacksonville market. Baer’s, with 16 locations statewide, describes itself as “Florida’s premium furniture and mattress store.”
Wawa
One of Baer’s Furniture’s new neighbors will be Wawa. The city is reviewing a permit application at 7790 Gate Parkway for the Pennsylvania-based gas station and convenience store chain.
The more than $1 million construction project comprises the 6,119-square-foot convenience store with a gas canopy and dumpster enclosure.
It’s one of at least 30 locations the company wants to build in Northeast Florida. Ten will have opened by year-end.
Self-storage
The city is reviewing a permit application for Gate Parkway Self-Storage at 7782 Gate Parkway.
Oden Hardy Construction Inc. is the contractor for the $5.63 million construction job, shown as a three-story, 120,033-square-foot, climate-controlled self-storage facility on 2.29 acres.
